So I’m taking the Inktober challenge, and trying to finish an ink drawing each day, this month. I’m going to try to adhere to the Inktober prompt for daily suggestions. The suggestion for day one was, “Swift.” The first thing I thought of was Jonathan Swift, but I wasn’t feeling Gulliver’s Travels, and couldn’t think of how to draw something pertaining to A Modest Proposal (although, in retrospect, a box of Girl Scout Cookies full of actual Girl Scouts might have been funny?), so next my mind went to the other Swift. Taylor Swift.
While her music doesn’t speak to me directly, I do have a lot of respect for her in terms of how she runs her business, manages her brand, and conducts herself in general. And I will laugh at her falling off of the treadmill in the Apple Music ad FOREVER.
This probably isn’t the best portrait I ever did, but it’s not the worst, either. I drew it entirely with a Bic pen, no pencils, and I always cut myself a little slack when I go that route. Worst case scenario, it’s still better than the depiction by that courtroom artist who said he couldn’t draw her right because she was too beautiful.
