It seems like every single newspaper with a comics page in it has at least one daily comic strip devoted to the single-panel format of The Far Side.  Sure, there were others that existed before – Dennis The Menace and The Family Circus come to mind – but most of the single-panel comics you’ll find today share the same style of out-of-the-box-thinking humor, along with some of the same artistic leanings, as Gary Larsen’s masterwork.  I don’t say any of this judgingly.  I am no different.  I loved – and still love – The Far Side, and did a few single-panel comics early on, as an homage.
